Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions Tucson patients ask us most about chiropractic care.

New to chiropractic, or just have questions before your first visit? Here are clear, no-pressure answers. Still not sure about something? Reach out. We are always happy to help.

What does a chiropractor do?+

Chiropractors diagnose and care for problems of the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system. Using gentle, hands-on adjustments together with corrective exercise and postural work, we help restore movement and ease pain by addressing the root cause, not just the symptom, without drugs or surgery as the first step.

Is chiropractic care safe?+

For most people, chiropractic adjustments are very safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor. We begin with a thorough history and exam to make sure care is appropriate for you, and we tailor the technique and force to your age, comfort level, and condition.

Does an adjustment hurt?+

Most patients feel little to no discomfort, and often immediate relief. You may hear a soft "pop," which is simply gas releasing from the joint. If you are sore, tense, or prefer low-force care, we adjust gently and stay within what your body is comfortable with.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?+

No. You can book directly with us, no physician referral required. If another provider is already involved in your care, we are glad to talk through how chiropractic fits alongside what you are doing with them.

How many visits will I need?+

It depends on your condition, how long you have had it, and your goals. After your exam we recommend a specific, time-bound plan with a clear endpoint, never open-ended treatment. Many patients notice meaningful improvement within the first few weeks.

What will care cost?+

That depends on what your exam shows and the plan we agree on together. Send us your details or give us a call and we will go over your options before you commit to anything. You will never be surprised by the cost of a visit.

What conditions do chiropractors help with?+

Common reasons people see us include back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc injuries, pain after an auto accident, sports and overuse injuries, and poor posture. Care can also support everyday mobility and overall wellness.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?+

Yes. Gentle, pregnancy-adapted chiropractic care is widely used to ease back, hip, and pelvic discomfort during pregnancy. We adapt your position, the pressure we use, and the pace of care at every stage, and we will refer you on if anything falls outside our scope.

What does nervous-system-focused care mean?+

It means we look at how well your nervous system is adapting to stress, not just at the spot that hurts. Your visit starts with a history, an exam, and a nervous system scan, and we walk you through what we find in plain language before any care begins.

What should I expect on my first visit?+

Plan for about 45–60 minutes. We listen to your story, perform a thorough exam, explain what we find in plain language, and, when clinically appropriate, provide your first gentle adjustment the same day.

What is the popping sound during an adjustment?+

That sound is called cavitation, a small release of gas, like bubbles, from the fluid inside your joint. It is normal, painless, and not your bones cracking. Some gentle techniques produce no sound at all.

How is chiropractic different from other hands-on care?+

Chiropractic focuses on restoring proper joint motion and nervous-system function through specific adjustments, supported by corrective exercise, stretching, and postural work you can keep up at home. Other approaches work on the body in different ways, and when your case calls for something outside our scope we will tell you and point you to the right provider.

Once I start, do I have to keep going forever?+

No. We build a plan with a real finish line. Some patients choose occasional maintenance or wellness visits because they simply feel and move better, but that is always your choice, never a requirement.

Are you accepting new patients?+

Yes. Alma Sana Chiropractic Studio is welcoming new patients. Ask about our new patient special when you book.
